Chemotherapy Treatments

At County, we know that when your beloved pet is diagnosed with cancer it is very frightening.  We strive to educate you so that appropriate decisions concerning the well-being and quality of life of your pet can be made.  It is important to know that chemotherapy in animals can be very rewarding depending on the type of cancer being treated.  Veterinarians use the same drugs that humans are given, but animals normally don't loose their hair and typically don't get sick.  When we do see signs associated with chemotherapy, it is usually several days after treatment and predominately gastrointestinal in nature.  This can be helped with oral medications that you can give at home.

Some cancers can also be removed/ managed surgically.  Depending on the type of cancer, location, and presence of metastases (spread) removal (when complete) can be curative!  Again, it is important to know the type of cancer and weather the cancer has progressed as to if surgery or chemotherapy is an option.

Below are a few of the cancers we treat with chemotherapy.  Many of these have multiple treatments that can be performed based on you and your pets needs.

Lymphoma, leukemia (ALL and CLL), multiple myeloma, mast cell tumors, hemangiosarcomas, and soft tissue sarcomas.

Feel free to contact us to set up a consultation so that we can discuss your pets condition.
